2D is viewed from the front only and hangs from the wall or lays flat and has only length and width. ( 2D) a sculpture can be 2D if it is a relief sculpture or carving on a flat surface. 2D is usually a painting, drawing. or relief sculpture.
3D is viewed in the round ( from all sides) and has length, width and depth.
