Drawing and Painting 1:  final exam

Student will create a painting on canvas or wood of one of their favorite places:
REQUIREMENTS: 
*16x20 or larger
*Demonstrate understanding of the painting process and techniques
*Color Theory with acrylics
*Composition skill using the elements of art and principles of design
*Must be a place or feeling of a place you have been or spent time ( student voice/personal meaning)
* Does NOT have to been realistic

PROCEDURES:
  1. ​Create interest pages with photographs ( you WILL NOT directly copy) but instead use these photos as references and inspirations in an effort to create your own composition.
  2. Color theory studies in journals ( students will first spend time exploring and mixing with color palettes with acrylic paints.
  3. Underpainting and building or back, middle and foregrounds.
  4. Detailing and rendering in light and shadow.
  5. Evaluation in journals that demonstrates your understanding of the elements of art and principles of design ( done in journals as part of  final exam grade)
