PART 1: DIPTYCH SELF-POTRAITS:
Create self portraits from front, side or 3/4 view using good composition and filling the page in your journal.
One portrait should be rendered in pencils, one portrait in oil pastels, pastels, line and or collage with magazine and tissue paper.
PART 2: FAMOUS PERSON COLLAGE:
Students will create a newspaper/magazine collage of a famous person whom they admire.
Create an idea page of various photographs and famous quotes of your famous person
Make sure your your photographs demonstrate full value ( lights and darks)
PROCEDURES:
*Value lesson: make a variety of value scales in your journal with different collage elements: newspaper( black and white print) color print from magazines. Demonstrate the ways you can show full value through collage.
*Gather a variety of photographs of your famous person and specifically try to find ones that show good contrast and value changes.
*Consider words or quotes that would combine well with the image and statement.
