Understand that the lines, shapes, space, value and texture in the physical writing of words is art in itself. This is sometimes called TYPOGRAPHY (the style and appearance of printed matter.....the art or procedure of arranging type or processing data and printing from it.).
The drawings that you create that you chose to combine with you typography should be original ( do not copy something you've seen but instead use it as inspiration for your own original idea). You can use ideas generated by others but you should change the idea enough to put your own twist upon it.

COMPOSE THE PAGE USING ELEMENTS OF ART
SHOW FOCAL POINT USING THE RULE OF THIRDS

GRADING/ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING OBJECTIVES WILL BE ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA WITHIN THE SCALE BELOW:
Students will receive a score of 5-1 on each of the following 5 categories:
COMPOSITION: The student has created a piece that uses the elements of art and principles of design to compose the page in a pleasing way for the viewer.
EXPLORATION OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS: The student has made an attempt explore and experiment with various ideas and posibilities within their art journal and then used the best of their ideas in the creation of their final piece.
PERSONAL MEANING/STUDENT VOICE: The student has clearly chosen a quote and imagery that is meaningful to them.
ARTISTIC SKILL: The student has explored different artistic processes and has demonstrated growth in their ability to use these materials.
EFFORT/ENTHUSIASM/WILLINGNESS TO WORK: The student has demonstrated solid work ethic and hs made many attempts to complete the project fully.
